Feast of the Holy Trinity celebrated in Lekenik
On Sunday, 7 June, the feast of the Holy Trinity (popularly known as Trojačka nedjelja) was solemnly celebrated in Lekenik. According to surviving historical documents, the feast of the Holy Trinity has been celebrated here for three centuries – first in the old wooden chapel, then in the new chapel built in the last century, and in the parish church. Holy Mass was presided over by the Vicar General, Monsignor Marko Cvitkušić, concelebrated by the parish priest, Very Rev. Tigomil Radiček, with Deacon Daniel Jurić assisting.
Unfortunately, because of the epidemic control measures still in force, this year’s Trojačka nedjelja had no music and cultural programme, nor the events usually held under the name of the Days of Ban Jelačić and Postman Klempaj. Nevertheless, stalls with toys and entertainment were set up in the courtyard of the Croatian Home (Hrvatski dom).
