21st Children’s Masked Ball held

A colourful carnival parade through the centre of Lekenik brightened up yesterday afternoon (Sunday) as part of the now traditional Children’s Masked Ball. The main programme took place at the Croatian Home (Hrvatski dom) in Lekenik. The young costumed boys and girls competed in five categories: two group categories – small and large group costumes – and individual categories for the younger, middle and older age groups. The competition was certainly toughest in the group costume category, where most entries were groups from Lekenik Kindergarten. In the “LARGE GROUP COSTUMES” category, first place went to the kindergarten’s mixed older group with the costume “ALPHABET”, second place to the “FOREST ELVES”, also a kindergarten group (the younger one), and third place to the kindergarten’s middle group as “DINOSAURS”. In the SMALL GROUP COSTUMES category, first place went to a group called “MILKA COW”, second place to Leona and Jana, dressed as “RAIN LOVERS”, and third place to Monika and Gabrijela, dressed as “LADIES OF LEKENIK”. In the “INDIVIDUAL COSTUMES – YOUNGER AGE GROUP” category, first place went to Stjepan M. with his “PJ MASK” costume, second place to Ena P. with her “PRINCESS ANNA” costume and third place to Petra K. with her “WITCH” costume. In the “INDIVIDUAL COSTUMES – MIDDLE AGE GROUP” category, Stjepan B. certainly won everyone over dressed as an “AFRICAN”, deservedly taking 1st place with his performance and costume; second place went to Mihaela D., dressed as a “PICTURE OF DOROTHY”, and third place to Sunčica B. with her “BIRTHDAY PRESENT” costume. In the last individual category, the “OLDER AGE GROUP”, there was only one costume: Nina B., dressed as a “Coca-Cola girl”.
