Carnival (Fašnik) in the Municipality of Lekenik

Sunday’s 22nd Children’s Masked Ball began with a carnival parade from OŠ Mladost primary school to the Croatian Home (Hrvatski dom). After the group and individual costumes had been presented, the young revellers were entertained by Vladimir the magician. Once the judging panel had added up the points, prizes were awarded for the most creative costumes. Among the group costumes, first prize went to the pre-school group of Lekenik Kindergarten with their costume “The Seasons”. Second were the Lekenik majorettes as Minnie Mouse, and third the kindergarten’s English group as Penguins. In the individual category for pre-school children, first place went to Luka Žitvaj as a Tractor, second to Josip Stojčević as a Native American and third to Lana Micudaj as a Little Ladybird. In the middle age group, first place was shared by Ivan Kefeček as a Cowboy, Jana Franjković as Franka Batelić and Leona Božić as Grandmother Frost. Second was Emili Dobranić and third Sunčica Balinčić.
Carnival activities in our municipality continued yesterday at OŠ Mladost, where the most original costumes were also chosen, at Lekenik Kindergarten, where the municipal leaders treated the little revellers to doughnuts, and at the school in Žažina. There was also a costumed celebration at the SOS Children’s Village.
