Jurjevo – Lekenik Municipality Day

Jurjevo is the traditional celebration with which the Municipality of Lekenik marks its Municipality Day – the feast of St. George, the community’s patron saint – with a series of cultural, sports, social and entertainment events. The celebrations last a week, with a full programme that includes clean-up campaigns, sports tournaments, exhibitions, concerts and traditional customs such as lighting the St. George’s Day bonfire, which symbolises the arrival of spring and the spirit of togetherness.

The main part of the event usually takes place at the end of April on the multi-purpose sports ground in Lekenik, with cultural performances by local associations and folklore groups and a music programme featuring popular acts for all ages. The celebration also includes Holy Mass, children’s and sports activities, and concerts by well-known performers with free admission for visitors. Jurjevo celebrates traditional values, community and local culture, while offering entertainment and activities for locals and guests of all generations.
